Who we are, and why we started.
In Texas, anyone can call themselves a roofer. There's no license and no registry. So here is who we are, where we came from, and the facts you can check for yourself.
From Insurance to Roofing
As a McKinney-based insurance brokerage, we saw commissioned sales reps from roofing companies talk policyholders into claims on bad advice. The homeowners paid for it in higher insurance premiums and non-renewals, or in build problems with no accountability.
Determined to offer a different outcome for our clients, we started Striker Roofing in 2014.
What's in it for us?
Relationships that last for years. We built Roof Cake to be the roofer homeowners call again and send their neighbors to, the one insurance agents refer their clients to, and a contractor that insurance companies and homeowners can both work with.
From Striker Roofing to Roof Cake

You may know us as Striker Roofing, a traditional roofing contractor based in McKinney, TX. But the goal has always been to create a better solution to roof replacements.
The publication, Roofing Contractor, recorded it in an article written in May 2020:
To do that, Striker Roofing is looking to raise the bar of what a roofing contractor can be with virtual training and sales processes and a Managed Repair Program (MRP) that closes the gap between the contractor and insurance carriers.
In 2024, we became Roof Cake to mark the leap in the direction roofing is going: a straightforward process where roofers, insurance companies and homeowners work together as a team.
We kept what worked for homeowners and changed the rest.
What we kept
The materials and roofing systems that have proven to last, customer service and accountability, people and crews that have delivered quality work for over a decade.
What we changed
A team on every job instead of one sales rep: a project manager inspects your roof, a crew installs it, and the team handles the paperwork.
How we make roof problems a piece of cake.
Honest, accurate information
Every job begins with an inspection of the whole exterior, and your report shows what was found and what each option costs.
One price
When you hire us directly, the price is the same whether insurance pays for the roof or you do.
Proven roofing systems
Twelve years on roofs taught us which materials and systems last. We kept those and dropped the rest. We did the same with our crews. The ones installing your roof have proven themselves on job after job.
Facts you can check
How to select the right roofer for you
When you choose a roofer, these questions are likely on your mind.
Will they give it to you straight? Will the price be fair? Will the roof be installed right? Will they be there if something goes wrong? Are these people you want to work with?
Here is what to ask any roofer, us included, and what a good answer sounds like.
- How long have you roofed here?
- A year and an address you can check.
- What does the warranty cover?
- A set term, in a written warranty you keep.
- Is the price in writing before work starts?
- Yes, with a set price for anything found under the old roof.
- Can you help with my deductible?
- No. In Texas a contractor can't pay, waive or rebate it.
